The situation faced by Gilberto at Orlando Pirates is doing little to affect his international career after receiving another call-up to the Angola national team.
Angola coach Pedro Goncalves has included Gilberto in the squad for AFCON qualifiers against Ghana and Sudan.

Palancas Negras have already qualified for the finals in Morocco from December 21, 2025 – January 18, 2026, after winning all four games in Group F.
Gilberto was used from the bench in both qualifiers last month.

For the latest camp, he will travel having featured in a total of only 50 minutes in the five matches played by Pirates since the October FIFA calendar dates.
The 23-year-old has seen Monnapule Saleng, Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota ahead of him for starting places in the positions that he plays attacking from the flanks either side of the top man.
Mofokeng has quickly established himself as a regular, while Nkota is the latest to emerge.

Gilberto is hugely popular in Angola and was greeted by wild scenes upon landing in Luanda for the last international break.
His career at Pirates is yet to blossom the way it did at Petro de Luanda.
Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel has been ignored again from Angola's squad.
