Magents: Sundowns is our bread and butter

A 1995 CAF Champions League winner with Orlando Pirates has expressed full confidence in under-fire Abdeslam Ouaddou leading the side team to victory against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The two giants of South African football will exchange fire at Orlando Stadium on Saturday for the first leg of the MTN8 semi-final.

Ouaddou has dropped six points in his first two league games in charge, leading to criticism from the fanbase.

Edward Motale has advised the Moroccan-Frenchman to use the same starting line-up that lost to Marumo Gallants FC on Tuesday.

"I believe we will win tomorrow, we always beat Sundowns,” says a confident ‘Magents’, as he is fondly known in local football.

“The Pirates players will take advantage of the chances they've been missing.

"The players who started in our last game should start again against Sundowns. The only thing they need to do is score.

"On Tuesday, if Oswin Appollis had converted his chances, we might be having a different conversation. The true reflection of that game should have been 3-2 in favour of Pirates,” he continued.

The former Buccaneers captain also defended new right-back Tshepo Mashiloane.

"The supporters cannot single out one player. He made a mistake, but that happens. Which footballer doesn't make mistakes? For there to be a winner in football, mistakes must occur. Football is a game of mistakes and rectification.

"When I say the coach should start with the same team he used against Gallants, I include Mashiloane in that line-up.

"In Abdeslam Ouaddou, I believe. How can we expect a coach to lead our team and simultaneously be a striker who scores goals? If Appollis misses a chance, how is that the coach's fault?

"The coach should handle 60% at training, while the players need to take care of the remaining 40% on matchday.

"Sundowns is our bread and butter, and we will beat them 2-0."
