Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has been hailed for giving Mofokeng a platform to express his talent at such a young age.
The former DStv Diski Challenge star continued from where he left off from last season, where he netted a winner in the Nedbank Cup final against Mamelodi Sundowns prior to be named Young Player of the Season.
So this this term, he notably scored the last goal in a 3-1 win over Stellenbosch in the MTN8 final.
According to Khanye, what Mofokeng is doing is purely down to talent.
"If I say Relebohile Mofokeng, I've never seen a player like that after a couple of players in [the year] 2000. We don't have to lie, we call younger players who are 23, 24," Khanye said on 947's MSW.
"There's nothing wrong with that because not a lot of teams are using the so-called youngsters, especially in South Africa. But a youngster, a player like that [Mofokeng], 19 years first season showing up, second season being the contender for Player of the Season.

"Changing the game, coming off the bench in the final and scoring against one of the best teams on the continent, Sundowns. What he did is not coaching, it's his own talent. Credit to School of Excellence. Credit also to [Joseph] 'Duku-Duku' Makhanya for promoting this young boy [Mohau] Nkota as well. I wish more teams can follow," the former winger added.
Mofokeng will have arguably the biggest test of his career when Bucs host Al Ahly in a CAF Champions League group encounter on Saturday afternoon.
