Former Baroka FC head coach Sello Chokoe admits performing well against Kaizer Chiefs can really build one's football career.
According to the 'Gloved One', beating Amakhosi in the Nedbank Cup nine years ago opened many doors for him and some of his players.

"In that season 2010/11 the team had a proper pre-season camp prior to the kick-off of the Vodacom league, now ABC Motsepe. We had a quality team hence we reached the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.

"In that match [against Chiefs] everyone's confidence was high as we came from a victory over Moroka Swallows in the last 16.
"Some signed [with PSL teams] during the season after good performances and that disturbed our season and we failed to gain promotion to the GladAfrica Championship.
"Ain't surprised only four players are [currently] in the professional ranks. It proves football is a short career and that players come and go.

"Look, the amount of coverage [in the Chiefs match] helped a lot, especially for players like Motupa who were young and not a regular at the time.
"Majority of our players were old. Only Motupa, Tshepo Mothiba, Khunadi Nkoana and Lantshene Phalane were youngsters, majority were in their late 20s.
"Although guys like Francis Baloyi and Katlego Mashego went on to play for Free State Stars, they could only last a few seasons. Tshinuna and Nkoana went on to play for Chippa United in the NFD.

"My career has been upside down since then but I'm in football and that's where I belong, be it coaching or running the team."
Chokoe is now the CEO at GladAfrica Championship club Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
