Mosimane says his team will be under no illusions to undermine SAB league side Vaal University of Technology when they meet in the Nedbank Cup last 16 in Tshwane on Sunday (15h00).
VUT have tagged themselves as the next giant-killers after sending Golden Arrows packing from the tournament a few weeks ago.
The SAB League side have already sent a stern warning to The Brazilians not to expect a walkover when they meet in Atteridgeville.
Mosimane has since reminded his charges about Baroka and Maluti FET College and urged them to bring their 'A' game against VUT.
"I also remember there was Baroka story and there was Maluti story. There are a lot of stories like that. It happens with the big teams, the Arrows story. What, don't you think it can happen to you?" he said.
"There is the story of Hungry Lions against Jomo Cosmos and all these things talk to you and your conscience and come back to say, 'Who do you think you are? Are you arrogant not to respect your opponents?'
"The fact that they came up there, it means they are good. I went to watch them last week Sunday because I am anxious to see a team in SAB eliminating Arrows, and you become anxious. I went to watch them and I think I got something out of that."
Sundowns made their own cup history several years ago when they beat Northern Cape side Powerlines 24-0, and Mosimane has promised to give respect to VUT and not resort to showboating even if they score another avalanche of goals.
"We respect our opponents. I am happy to be part of the team that made history in the Nedbank Cup tournament with Powerlines. I am happy that I am employed by a team that made the CAF record 16-1," said Mosimane.
"You can't disrespect your opponents. What I can guarantee you if even if it can be 3-0 or 4-0 we won't be showboating. I like goals more than tricks. I want to see goals."
Sundowns will be without Gaston Sirino, Hlompho Kekana, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Mosa Lebusa through suspension after they picked up their fourth yellow cards against Celtic in midweek.
