The Lions of the North were pitted against the Absa Premiership log leaders in the last 16 in a game that will take place at Makhulong Stadium.
Highlands progressed to the next stage of the competition after defeating second-tier side Uthongathi 2-0 at the same venue.
"Ja well, you can never choose which team you want. You can say you want this or you want that, but it's a draw," Da Gama tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"So whatever happens, it's meant to be you know. God has planned it that way. And this is a chance for us to have another opportunity to play Chiefs.
"Chiefs have beaten us twice this season [laughs] and it's an opportunity for us also... but when you play a bigger team, a big team like Chiefs, it helps raise your standard as a team.
"And we certainly look forward to this because it will help us raise our standard, and it will also help us in the league. So we are looking forward to this game,
"You must remember we lost to Chiefs and Pirates and Stellenbosch in the space of six days. So I mean how many teams play Chiefs and Pirates in six days?
"How many teams play three matches like that, teams like Stellenbosch that are fighting to get out of relegation, Chiefs and Pirates that are fighting for the league?
"How many teams get to play such teams in the space of six days? And we had a lot of injuries. So let's see how we perform when we have a bit of time to practice."
Da Gama believes the fact that the game will be played in Tembisa might work in their favour as Chiefs tend to struggle to play their normal game at smaller venues.
"Ja you know, it gives us a bit of an advantage, yes it does, there's no doubt about it," he insists.
"You know we've only lost two games at Makhulong this season. So ja, it does give us an advantage."
