Dumped by Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the 2015/16 season, Gould returned for a second spell with Matsatsantsa last year and showed he still has a lot to offer.
Mashamaite also joined SuperSport last season, after a short spell with Swedish outfit BK Hacken, but his campaign was blighted by injury.
The 32-year-old, who made just three league appearances in his first season with the club, is looking forward to playing regularly going forward.
“But now I am looking forward to the new season and I am positive that I will be able to play a major role.
“Morgan has had his issues with injury. [But] He came through and showed the right spirit. He is someone we can learn from."
Mashamaite won two league titles in his time with Amakhosi and would love to get his hands on the Absa Premiership trophy with SuperSport. He’s stressed the importance of being consistent if they want to achieve their goal.
“SuperSport has won three league titles before, so what’s preventing us from doing it again? We can also achieve it. We have a great team. It takes consistency. As much as it sounds like a cliché, we need to take it one game at a time. It’s all about attitude,” he says.
SuperSport are also hoping to go all the way in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they’ve got a two-legged quarterfinal clash lined up against Zambian side Zesco United.
“We have done really well. I don’t think too many people gave us a chance. I believe the mentality [of South African clubs] is slowly changing, looking at what Sundowns achieved on the continent. They have the raised the bar and it’s up to us to catch up.”
Mashamaite is looking forward to playing against his former club Chiefs in the MTN8 quarterfinal at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
