Mathoho made his return from a toe injury alongside new signing Xulu in a 0-0 draw with Chippa United in the League on Sunday.
The Bafana Bafana regular formed a formidable union with Tefu Mashamaite at the back last season, with the latter subsequently joining Swedish outfit BK Hacken.
“It takes time for partnerships to grow. We have to communicate a lot with each other. It’s good to be back,” Mathoho told the club's website.
Chiefs next face Mathoho's former side Bloemfontein Celtic in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-finals at Free State Stadium on Sunday, with 'Tower' naturally targeting another clean sheet.
“We want to get a draw or a win on the road,” he said.
“It would also be great if we could keep a clean sheet.”
