Itumeleng Khune is ready for a battle between Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United in the MTN8

“Preparations have been going very well,” Khune told the media on Thursday.

“We’ve just finished training. But our final preparations are tomorrow. We are going to train at the main venue, Moses Mabhida Stadium. We are leaving tomorrow for Durban and we are  looking forward in hosting SuperSport United.

“It’s a very tough team to beat, but this season we are coming back with fresh minds and a good plan on how to start winning games and winning trophies. It’s going to be a tough one, but we are ready for it.”

Khune adds that it won’t be easy facing a team that has been active in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“They’ve been active.  They’ve been competing in CAF competition and they’ve just lifted a trophy [Nedbank Cup].  So, their spirit is still very high.

“We just completed our pre-season and we played very well in our friendly match against [Orlando] Pirates. We also had two friendlies against Township Rollers from Botswana when they came here for the Maize Cup and we travelled to Botswana to play against them.

“So far we are happy with the preparations and happy with the new players. So, this season’s approach we just need to clinical in front of goals because we’ve been playing very well as a team, but we’ve been given silly goals away, we’ve been giving matches away.

“This has to change and that is what we’ve been emphasising more on coming into the new season.”
