The 28-year-old has been a consistent performer for the Urban Warriors over the last five years, but has only one national team cap to show for his efforts – in a friendly against Equatorial Guinea in 2012.
He claimed the Player and Players’ Player of the Season awards at Ajax in 2014/15, and hopes a repeat of that form will catch Shakes Mashaba’s eye.
“Different coaches like different styles of players,” Scott says in the latest edition of KICK OFF magazine. “Shakes is a coach that likes runners up-front, and I think the same with midfielders – maybe they don’t like the way I play. You can’t single it out.
"But Shakes gives everyone who works hard a chance, so maybe a call-up is close by, I don’t know …”
Scott says scoring more goals might help his cause, having managed three last season.
“I just want to score as much as I can – five was my target, so I’m going to say five, not anything higher, and hopefully Mr Shakes Mashaba sees me.”
