The Students have again spent big and are among the favourites to lift the Absa Premiership title this season.
They started the season well enough with a League win against Ajax Cape Town – the same opponents they face in the first leg of the MTN8 semifinals on Saturday.
Klate, one of the most decorated players in South African football history, says there is no mandate from management, but rather pressure from the players themselves to succeed.
“There is no pressure from the management to win trophies, but as players we want to compete and achieve,” he said at Wits’ media day.
“We want to compete strongly this season and achieve. We’ve got the team to do that and winning the MTN8 is part of that vision.”
Wits yesterday unveiled the signing of Portuguese striker Joaquim Lupeta, while Burkina Faso international Aristide Bance is still training with the team.
