Cardoso provides update on Williams' absence

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has provided an update on goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, who was not in the matchday squad for the Stellenbosch FC game.

Veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango started again but was replaced towards the end by Jody February as the Brazilians claimed a 3-0 win at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Cardoso, however, has assured fans that Williams will be available soon, with the team now preparing for the final two league games and the CAF Champions League.

“No, there’s no issue only solutions. Thank God we have solutions for the problems and Ronwen is not a big problem as a I said in the pre-match conference," Cardoso told SuperSport Tv

"He will be available for us very quickly and even in the next match and I also think the question with Denis is not a big thing."

The Tunisian coach also opened about his side's fast start against Stellenbosch, where they scored three goals in 17 minutes.

“Yeah, sometimes in football it happens like this and maybe it comes from- remember you asked me about the line-up - the way we positioned ourselves. The pitch brought some uncertainty on Stellenbosch, anyway Stellenbosch is a very good team big respect for them,” he said.

“But we were very strong in the game with a lot of tension emotional tension because obviously these three points puts us in a very, well in a more simple position than we had before in terms of winning the championship.

“Still, we need to make one point unless Pirates can score a lot of goal everything can happen in football, we worry about ourselves. We play next game in the right way simple,” continued the mentor.
