The man dubbed as the 'Black Prince of South African Soccer' is a part of the Playermaker tracker device team that created the revolutionary device.
How does it work?
Well, according to Playermaker's official site, the gadget is strapped onto the footballer's boot and measures the amount of touches players take, the total distance they cover, the maximum speed of the foot during a kick and much more!
It also has a system that rates the player's various abilities required for football.
With the information, players can use the metrics to analyse their games and see where and what they can improve on.
The device is now allowed to be worn by players in official match play as a lower-limb wearable tracking system after being awarded the EPTS (Electronic Performance and Tracking Systems) FIFA Quality Programme certification.
Sono said that if he had access to this type of technology in his day, he would have been an even better player.
"When I met these guys overseas and I saw this device, I said 'it's unfortunate some of us were born earlier'," Sono told SABC News when first announcing his partnership with Playmaker.
"If we had a device like this during our time, I think we could have been equal to Pele or even better but everything comes after us. So, this device helps a lot to groom players, to track the players."
