The Egyptian side defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 3-2 on aggregate in the final, becoming only the fourth Egyptian club to win the prestigious trophy after Al Ahly, Zamalek, and Ismaily.
The Congolese striker won the tournament’s Golden Boot after netting an impressive nine goals in 13 matches.
Amid his success, the DR Congo international is said to have made a major personal decision, reportedly converting to Islam.
Egyptian sports journalist Amr El Dardir, who has over 1.5 million followers on his official Facebook page, wrote: "By the way, Fiston Mayele has announced his conversion to Islam and changed his name to 'Mahmoud Mayele'...
"A number of Pyramids players helped him embrace Islam, most notably Ramadan Sobhi and Karim Hafez."
