This includes his first-ever opponent as Al Ahly manager, Javier Mascherano, who is currently the head coach of Inter Miami.

Mascherano enjoyed a celebrated playing career with major clubs such as Liverpool, FC Barcelona, and the Argentina national team.

However, Mascherano is not the most famous football icon Riveiro has encountered since arriving in the United States.

This week, the former Orlando Pirates manager crossed paths with 2005 Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldinho.

Ronaldinho and Riveiro rubbed shoulders while also in the company of FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

Speaking at the gathering, Infantino told FIFA.com: “In the FIFA World Cup next year there will be 48 teams. In the (FIFA) Club World Cup this year there will be 32 teams but with players from 90 different countries.

"So, all these players will be followed by their countries because they want to see their heroes, their superstars performing on a global stage. This is something special.”

Ronaldinho concurred and added: "I think it will be very beautiful. I see the whole city, everyone, very happy and excited."
