He admits he just decided to hit target the moment the delivery came in his direction from Ashley Du Preez and was relieved it beat Sipho Chaine.

“Firstly, we praise the almighty, and for my teammates, technical team and supporters who always stand behind us going through difficult times. But we couldn’t do it without those supporters, our teammates with one spirit, one love, character and I’m grateful,” Maart told SuperSport TV.

“I’m both feet at the end of the day so no matter how it came, I just put my eyes on the ball and just said ‘bishmillah’ and I just kicked…goal,” he added.

Adopting the right mindset from all concerned prior to the match were vital in guiding them over the line and winners podium.

Furthermore, the Pirates development graduate praises the management, technical team and teammates for being able to lead them to their first trophy since 2015.

“I like said the results is not going our way in the league, but I think today we were collective like a team. We were fighting together, technical team had the right mindset, players had the right mindset,” Maart said.
