Kaizer Chiefs’ notable start to the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season has come with the addition of benefits for goalkeeper Brandon Peteresen.
Petersen has been the preferred option between the posts for the start of the new season, which has come with Chiefs not conceding in five consecutive games.

With the debates that were there in pre-season about the goalkeeping department at the Soweto giants, which led to several keepers being linked to the club, none of it is topical now.
Petersen has stood his ground in protecting his area as the last line of defence, playing all those five games equivalent to 450 minutes without conceding.
Five league games in a row is the longest that he has now gone without being beaten throughou his PSL career stretching a dozen years back to when he broke into the first team at Ajax Cape Town.
Prior to his latest feat, the 30-year-old had four clean sheets as his longest run (league matches only).
This happened while he was at Ajax in the period from late April to May 2017 when he kept it locked against Platinum Stars, Chippa United, Bloemfontein Celtic, and Orlando Pirates, before he conceded against Baroka FC in the last match of the season.
Beyond that, Petersen has already covered 62,5% of what he needs to match his highest number of clean sheets ever in a single season in the league.
His best numbers in the league stand at eight, which he achieved during 2022/23.
He played 16 league matches for the Naturena-based side throughout that campaign, conceding 13 in the other eight games.
What he has done so far this season has put him in contention for Bafana Bafana consideration ahead of the AFCON finals at the end of the year.
Inclusive of last season, Petersen has now played seven league matches in a row and in sight of surpassing his highest number of games in a row between the posts in the league while at Chiefs.

He played 10 in a row in 2023.
Also of interest is that while he had to wait all season to play five games last term, he has only needed just three weeks to play the same number of matches in this campaign.
Charismatic goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi appears to be doing his work to perfection.
