Nabi’s request line at Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs are bracing for a busy transfer window with their entrance turnstiles set to spin at pace as Nasreddine Nabi makes sweeping changes.

Firstly, Nabi will relook his foreign quota as he plots to bring in up to three non-South Africa players as he prepares for the new season which will include the CAF Confederation Cup.

Chiefs ended the season with Glody Makabi Lilepo (Congolese), Inacio Miguel (Angolan Portuguese), Fiacre Ntwari (Rwandan), Edmilson Dove (Mozambican), and Edson Castillo (Venezuelan) as the five players registered as foreigners.

Lilepo and Miguel have their places secured with the former having made an impression since joining in January while the latter has been commanding at the back.

Having failed to establish himself as the first choice, Ntwari must make way despite having only spent a single season at Chiefs.

Nabi wants to bring in a new keeper but that will come with finding solutions for how the Rwandan leaves as he still has three years on his contract.

Dove has already been replaced by the signing of Paseka Mako with Aphiwe Baliti also expected to come in.

The 30-year-old is aggressively pursuing his options for his next contract.

What will come as a surprise is that Edson Castillo has also fallen victim to the anticipated line of changes.

Castillo was disturbed by an injury last season and only played 64 minutes over four appearances since he came back in March.

There are already possibilities that he will move on loan to play for one of his former clubs in Venezuela.

Beyond the list of foreign players, Tashreeq Morris is standing on the fence despite only arriving in January just like it is also not clear for Tebogo Potsane, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Bongani Sam, Lehlogonolo Matlou, and Samkelo Zwane.

Loan deals will have to be worked out.
