Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Daniel "Massaro" Matsau has stated reasons why, according to him, local coaches have been failing at the club as Amakhosi count down to 10 years without a trophy in the cabinet.
Steve Komphela, Molefi Ntseki, Arthur Zwane and now Cavin Johnson have all tried their luck in the hot seat at Naturena but failed to bring back the glory days.
The last time Amakhosi poised a serious challenge for the championship, they were coached by a German, in Ernst Middendorp.

Recent struggles have seen the Glamour Boys turn from a title-chasing giant into a mid-table team.
"When it comes to coaches, Kaizer Chiefs have tried so many options. That alone tells you there's a lot of problems at that club," Matsau tells KickOff.
"The management has tried their best because they have signed players who were stars at their previous clubs. We need a coach that will come with tactics that suit our players, that's it.
We've got one of the best squads in this league. Lots of players at Kaizer Chiefs can easily play for Bafana Bafana, but they couldn't gel or play to their potential," he adds.
Matsau cites a number of players to support his argument that it may not be the players, after all, that are the problem at the club.
"Sibongiseni Mthethwa was a Bafana Bafana player when he came to Chiefs. Given Msimango was in the Bafana Bafana set-up when he joined Chiefs. But because the team couldn't gel, it affected their game.
"Mduduzi Mdantsane is a marvelous player, a Bafana Bafana material, but just like Mthethwa and Msimango, so far he has not added much at Chiefs."
The former marksman is of the opinion South African coaches are too soft to coach a club the size of Amakhosi, what with the pressure a coach has to live with.
"There's pressure from the management and supporters. So, if you are too soft, you are bound to fail because in South Africa, we respect foreign coaches more than local coaches. South African coaches, each time supporters start talking, they chicken out. Sometimes local coaches are too afraid to take risks because of that.

"Sometimes I feel like local coaches listen to the supporters too much, hence I say they are afraid to make mistakes. They bow to whatever the supporters tell them. They tell them who to play, and most of the time they oblige because they want to win the supporters over.
"They are always looking to please the supporters, these coaches."
