Nigeria have confirmed a big blow to their preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South African and Benin.
The Super Eagles resume their qualifying campaign next week against Bafana Bafana, in a rematch of the recent Africa Cup of Nations semi-final.
New Nigeria coach Finidi George, however, will not be able to call upon star striker Victor Osimhen, who has withdrawn from the squad through injury.

Finidi has previously hinted at changing the Super Eagles' formation as he aims to get the best out of the attackers.
"We struggled going forward as well, so we just have to get that balance right. Maybe the formation has to change whereby we take away a player at the back and put him in the midfield," the coach told Arise News, as per allnigeriasoccer.
"We played 3-4-3 in the last AFCON and maybe it's time we get back to 4-3-3 where we make use of our wingers and properly."
