JUST IN: Chiefs announce new striker

Kaizer Chiefs have ended weeks of speculation around the number nine role with the announcement of a new striker ahead of the new Betway Premiership season.

The Soweto giants confirmed via their social media platforms on Tuesday afternoon that Portuguese striker Flávio Silva will be among those vying to lead the attack next season.

He has been signed from Persebaya Surabaya in Indonesia and is a product of the Sporting CP Academy, though born in Guinea-Bissau.

The 29-year-old comes in as a replacement for Ranga Chivairo, who departed Naturena at the end of his two-year deal.

He had scored nine goals in his 45 appearances in the Gold and Black colours.

Silva will go up against Wandile Duba, Ashley Du Preez, and Tashreeq Morris for a starting place as the side's number nine.

Several more signings are still expected to be announced.
