Kaizer Chiefs collected their first win on their pre-season tour in the Netherlands after seeing off PEC Zwolle 1-0 on Tuesday evening.
Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen, Inacio Miguel and Pule Mmodi remained in the starting eleven for the Amakhosi following the loss to NEC Nijmegen on Saturday.
Chiefs displayed a lot of confidence on the ball and managed to pick their passes, runs in the forward areas but battled to turn the defence.
The Soweto giants' major opening came a minute past the half-hour mark when Flavio Da Silva ran in on the near side following a through pass but sent his effort well over.
Zwolle enjoyed a clearer chance nine minutes later as Dylan Mbayo dragged wide of the upright after meeting a low cross from the right-side.
Chiefs made their advantage count ten minutes gone when development graduate Nalledi Hlongwane pounced on a rebound and fired in from a difficult angle.
The Amakhosi made a few changes after taking the lead, with George Matlou, Samkelo Zwane, Ethan Chislett, Mfundo Vilakazi and Gaston Sirino introduced.
It continued to look bright for the Soweto giants, but the Eredivisie outfit weren’t out of it and kept the opposing defence on their toes.
Chiefs looked to add a second goal within the final stages through a curling shot outside the area by Vilakazi, but he dragged well over target.
Vilakazi launched another curler from the same position two minutes from the time after meeting a lay-off from Sirino, but he was repelled by the PEC goalkeeper.
Chiefs survived the final stages and picked up a solid win, with their final pre-season clash in the Netherlands taking palce on Wednesday against FC Twente.
