Cape Town Spurs have been accused of double standards after freezing signing-on fees that were due to Kaizer Chiefs' new signing Asanele Velebayi as well as Liam Bern.
Spurs are adamant they have valid contracts with Velebayi and Luke Baartman, both signed by Chiefs, and Bern, who has been training with AmaZulu FC.

The Urban Warriors, however, have appealed the DRC's decision to SAFA Arbitration, arguing their relegation to the ABC Motsepe League does not invalidate the contracts they have with the players.
However, KickOff.com understands Velebayi and Bern had a portion of their signing-on fees, which were due at the end of August, month not paid by Spurs.
A reliable source has claimed the Ikamva-based outfit is not living up to their assertion that the players have binding contracts with them.
"...we are awaiting on our legal team to update us on the way forward. Please be patient until such is clarified, in due course thank you for your patience," a message from the club to the players read, explaining why the monies have not reflected.
This website touched base with club CEO Alexi Efstathiou to clarify whether there was a portion of the transfer fee due to the abovementioned players at the end of August.
"Possibly yes, possibly no," Efstathiou replied.
Pressed on whether they should be honouring the contracts they claim are still valid, he eventually admitted they had not paid the duo as the cases are still in the appeal process.
"Have they been paid by Kaizer Chiefs? Have the players come to training? Must I deduct money for not coming to training?

It is understood Baartman is not affected by the pending signing-on fee as he terminated his contract with Spurs.
Bern, meanwhile, is still in the process of taking his matter to the DRC.
