Gavin Hunt admits CAF Confederation Cup inconvenience for Bidvest Wits

Wits have been drawn against an as yet unknown team from Seychelles for the first round in February next year, which comes a few days after what is likely to be a crucial Absa Premiership match against Kaizer Chiefs.

“We play against Kazier Chiefs on Tuesday 9th of February 2016, and then the first leg of CAF is on the weekend of the 12th-14th. We will have to leave some players behind and there won’t be any fatigue involved as the players who play on Tuesday won’t be playing over the weekend [in Seychelles],” Hunt tells the club’s website.

“I don’t know anything about the team we are playing against. I will figure them out in the first five minutes. Being in the Confederation Cup for the second year in a row shows that the club is going in the right direction.

“We will take it game by game. This cup will make us stronger as a team, because the whole squad will get an opportunity to play.”

The Clever Boys will be playing in the Confederation Cup for the fourth time and qualified for the 2016 edition after finishing third in the League last season.

They lost to Royal Leopards of Swaziland in the preliminary qualifying round of the 2015 tournament. After winning the first leg at home 3-0 with an understrength team, they lost the away leg 3-0 and then lost 6-5 on penalties.
