The Urban Warriors last week announced their withdrawal from the competition, citing player safety and logistical difficulties in organising their trip to Angola for their first-leg tie against GD Sagrada Esperança.
However, South Africa’s football governing body Safa was not pleased with the club’s withdrawal from the competition, and held talks with the club earlier this week to discuss the matter.
It is now confirmed that Ajax’s withdrawal has been refused, and the Cape club will travel to Angola this weekend.
“Ajax are going to CAF,” a source close to the club tells snl24.com/kickoff. “Officials in Angola will be finalising the details with the club soon, but Ajax will be going there this weekend.”
Ajax face Esperança in Lunda Norte on Saturday afternoon, sandwiched in between tonight’s PSL fixture at home to Mpumalanga Black Aces and next Wednesday’s encounter against Polokwane City.
