Simba SC coach confident of beating Kaizer Chiefs in CAF Champions League second-leg

Simba SC head coach Didier Gomes is completely convinced his side can beat Kaizer Chiefs in the return leg of their CAF Champions League quarter-final.

Chiefs shocked the Tanzanian giants - who conceded only two goals en route to winning Group A ahead of Al Ahly - with a 4-0 thumping at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Eric Mathoho, Leonardo Castro and a Samir Nurkovic brace has put Chiefs one foot into the semi-final before they make the trip to Dar es Salaam this week but the French coach is not giving up hope just yet.

"Anything can happen in football, for sure we are very disappointed but we're alive and we embrace and we have hope - we keep our mind for that, it's very important to believe we can change the outcome," Gomes said.

"For sure if we want to do something good next week, we need to be aggressive, efficient and we don't know what can happen in football. But for sure Kaizer Chiefs did well.

"We have many regrets, we could have avoided two goals if we concentrated more so it's finished and for sure we have many regrets."

With Amakhosi goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma keeping a clean sheet, Wekundu wa Msimbazi face an uphill task without an away goal to work with at their Benjamin Mkapa fortress.

"Yeah it's true [it's harder without the away goal], we know very well what we need to do next Saturday, we need to keep the faith," Gomes admitted.

"It's very important to believe in ourselves and I'm completely convinced we can win the next match which result I don't know - for sure it will be difficult but nothing is impossible. We'll see for the next match."

Simba has one training session at Discovery Park in Johannesburg on Sunday morning after their defeat before returning to Dar es Salaam in the evening via Nairobi.
