Pitso Mosimane: Why Al Ahly coach refuses to celebrate against Mamelodi Sundowns

Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane has explained why he kept composure when his side scored against his former club Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mosimane notably restricted himself from too much excitement when the Egyptian giants secured a two-goal advantage in Cairo for the first leg tie of the CAF Champions League quarter-final.

Having spent almost eight years at Masandawana, the two-time African Champions League-winning coach admitted it's out of respect for what he brought the club and the platform the club offered him.

"When you win you need to keep humility because the day you lose, people must remember you are humble," Mosimane explained.

"This is a team that I've played for, I've worn the jersey of this team, I've won three trophies in a row playing in this team. And I've won trophies as a coach. I've got so many years in this club and big respect for the club.

"And the 13 trophies I've left at the club means a lot to me - so one goal that we score against Sundowns can never make me forget, not Mamelodi Sundowns. They've really helped me to be where I am but I've also contributed to where they are now.

"We have mutual respect and I'm not going to get carried away, whether you lose or you win I'll keep my integrity and pride. I'll let my work speak for me at Sundowns, and you know my work at Sundowns."

Mosimane's Red Devils face up against The Brazilians for the second-leg clash at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon (15h00).
