The 29-year-old midfielder was once touted as the future of Egyptian football when he burst onto the scene as a teenager with Zamalek, where he graduated from the club's academy system in 2011.
However, after an ill-fated stint in Portugal with Maritimo, the technically gifted midfielder returned to the White Knights and struggled to replicate the form that earned him seven senior international caps.
Ibrahim then moved on to El-Makkasa where he rekindled his form and produced several dynamic displays with four goals and six assists in 30 games across all competitions, which caught the eye of former Red Devils boss Rene Weiler.
But one of Mosimane's first major decisions at the Club Of the Century saw Ibrahim's proposed R11-million move called off as he indicated to the club's board to explore his preferred targets.
"Mosimane didn't have the time to follow Mohamed Ibrahim," he confirmed to OnTime Sport, as per KingFut.
"He watched some recordings and informed the board that he does not need a player in his position, and was looking to strengthen other positions.
"Weiler got the chance to follow Mohamed Ibrahim for a longer period and saw him on the field. But Weiler's departure and Mosimane's arrival were why the deal fell through.
"Amir Tawfik apologized to me and said it was the coach's desire. I then notified the player, and things ended in a respectful manner."
Ibrahim went on to join newly-promoted side Cleopatra FC who've invested heavily in new players for their first foray in the Egyptian Premier League.
