Jessica Motaung wary over Kaizer Chiefs' potential problems in Tanzania

Kaizer Chiefs' travels to Dar es Salaam have been met with some concerns by the club's management as rumours swirl about potential gamesmanship.

Chiefs touched down in Tanzania's largest city last night after travelling directly via a charted flight from OR Tambo International on Thursday afternoon.

Upon arrival, the team underwent Covid-19 rapid testing to gain entry through immigration with the club confirming no positive results, but had to undergo a second test at their hotel to gain entry and access to the stadium for Saturday's encounter.

Carrying a healthy 4-0 aggregate lead into Saturday's CAF Champions League quarterfinal second leg, Amakhosi have only to avoid a defeat by more than four goals to progress to the next stage.

However, club marketing director Jessica Motaung is concerned about talks off potential off-the-pitch "shenanigans" that Simba could resort to in an attempt to try and destabilise the Soweto giants ahead of the game at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium.

"It's not going to be easy; it hasn't been an easy journey. I'm thankful to some of the teams that have hosted us, [they have been] very gracious," Motaung told the media.

"We're very concerned about the potential shenanigans we may face where we're going, but that's not going to distract us. What's important is for the team to continue being focused.

"The foundation has been laid, it was a very good game last week and the team has to do well. We're not going to allow ourselves to be distracted by what could potentially happen, but it would be unfortunate if we suddenly have positive Covid-19 results – we haven't had those, or any other issues.

"The team is very prepared and very organised logistically, so I'm very proud of them. It's a historic moment and I'm asking our supporters to support the team, rally behind the players as they have and continue to do, and let's continue to make history."
