Hlompho Kekana: Why I will celebrate if I score against Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly

Sundowns are in need of a huge performance against the defending CAF Champions League champions when they meet in the quarterfinal second leg in Tshwane this weekend.

Following their 2-0 defeat away in Cairo this past weekend, The Brazilians now need at least three unanswered goals to advance to the next stage, a feat not impossible as they proved with that famous 5-0 victory at Lucas Moripe Stadium back in 2019.

Though he hasn't had much game time this season, Kekana's experience could be key this Saturday and the prospect of scoring against the Red Devils remains high despite his former mentor Pitso Mosimane being on the opposite bench.

"Ja, I was never an Al Ahly player before, so I'll have to celebrate. Coach Pitso knows, coaches move all the time – we saw Benni [McCarthy], now at AmaZulu, how he celebrated after beating [his former team] Cape Town City," Kekana told a small group of reporters.

"So, we will have to celebrate, it's a match that we really need to celebrate. It's a big match for the club; it's a big match for the players and it will obviously mean more [to score in] than any other match."

The 35-year-old midfield anchor has managed just eight starts and six sub appearances across all competitions so far, since the departure of Mosimane.
