Chiefs managed a surprise thrashing of Simba, who beat reigning CAF Champions League champions Al Ahly in the group stage, during their quarterfinal first leg showdown at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.
Erick Mathoho, Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro all got on the scoresheet without any response from the visiting side, who now have a mountain to climb to try and progress to the next stage.
Amakhosi's struggles on the domestic scene are well documented and Hunt has come under continuous scrutiny as they head towards their worst finish in the local league since the inception of the PSL back in 1996.
Having earlier described the season as his worst in his own 27-year coaching career, the 56-year-old was seen enjoying an extremely rare moment of joy and laughter during the whipping they handed out to Simba.
"No, because... 10 or 15 seconds before that [fourth goal], I said what we need to do, the things we work on and where we need to be without the ball, and then we turned the ball over and we were in the right position so the goal came," he explained.
"So, that's why I laughed because that was pretty much [what we wanted]. You don't get that much in football but it was, from an organisational point of view, out of position.
"Because I knew when we turned it over that we would get a situation like that, and it worked out, so sometimes things do work out you know - that's why I laughed."
