Gavin Hunt acknowledges disgruntled Kaizer Chiefs supporters following peaceful protest

Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt has acknowledged the supporters' efforts to make themselves heard and has since vowed to respond on the pitch.

The Amakhosi faithful took to the streets of Naturena on Friday morning to march to the Chiefs Village, where they handed over a 12-point memorandum to the club.

This seemed to have had a positive effect as the team went on to beat Tanzanian outfit Simba 4-0 in their CAF Champions League quarterfinal first leg at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.

Though he was not present among the club's delegation that received the memorandum, Hunt believes the supporters are deserving of respect and were well within their rights to voice their frustrations.

"Maybe that helped us win hey; maybe we need more marches hey," Hunt said with a wry smile.

"Listen, you've got to respect the supporters, they're obviously feeling the pain and we all do, and they're only voicing their grievances.

"And I think it's important the way it was done, it was handled very well and I think it's also important that we [respond] – a win like tonight will soften it a little bit.

"But it's not about tonight, it's about the next game, and that's what football is about... It's important that we knuckle down, give the supporters what we can."
