Free State Stars Eleazar Rodgers looking to a reunion with Bidvest Wits

Rodgers has not scored in the 10 matches he has played for Stars, but is hopeful his drought will end against the Clever Boys.

That said, the 1,9m tall striker says he will not put himself under pressure to prove anybody wrong.

"Wits are never an easy team to beat, they have been doing very well. But we're the home team and we not gonnna make it easy for teams to come here and win.

“So we gonna try our best to obviously get a positive result. If I can get an opportunity to play I will be on the score sheet.

Asked if he expects to be given special attention by his former teammates, Rodgers said: "I guess (laughs). I guess when I'm playing there's always one or two guys assigned to me at a time. So I'm quite used to that, but I know they have a very strong defence in Robyn Johannes and Tyson [Thulani Hlatshwayo] and Buhle [Mkhwanazi] and [Sifiso] Hlanti. If I do play I'm sure they are gonna give me a hard time.

“I will be very excited to get an opportunity to challenge them for the title. I think personally last season Free State Stars cause they won the Nedbank Cup obviously this season as a team we wanna show that we can win more things you know. The Telkom Cup is our opportunity for us to do well. We know if we can start by beating Wits then at least we can say that we do have a chance to go all the way. We can take that type of confidence all the way to the next round if we do win."
