Bayern Munich registered a 2-1 victory over Celtic in the UEFA Champions League play-offs first-leg on Wednesday evening.
After a tense spell, the Bavarians were ahead on the stroke of halftime through a ferocious left-footed strike from the area by Michael Olise from a layoff by Dayot Upamecano.
Englishman Harry Kane made it two minutes later with a superb half-volley from a corner-kick as the host failed to clear their lines.
Celtic reduced the tally inside the last ten minutes when Daizen Maeda nodded a goal-bound volley from the box into the back of the net.
It was a nervy final passage for the Bundesliga giants, but managed to hang on in the end and walked away with the victory.
Feyenoord 1-0 AC Milan
AC Milan succumbed to a 1-0 loss in their play-off first-leg encounter against Eredivisie boys Feyenoord out in Rotterdam.
Milan went on the offensive and the front trio in the starting eleven of Christian Pulisic, Rafael Leao and recent signing Joao Felix indicated it, as Feyenoord featured January arrival Jakub Moder in midfield.
The seven-time champions were on the back-foot just minutes from kick-off and trailed when Igor Paixao pounced on a rebound from Mike Maignan and finished with comfortably.
Paixao came close to securing a first half double moments past the half-hour mark through a rasping shot from way out, but he nestled the woodwork on this occasion.
Monaco 0-1 SL Benfica
Benfica picked up a creditable 1-0 win over Monaco in the first-leg of their play-off match to stand in good stead for the return encounter next week.
Veteran Nicolas Otamendi and Vangelis Pavlidis picked out the Portuguese eleven, while Aleksandr Golovin, Breel Embolo and Thilo Kehrer complemented the home side's stall.
With no goals in the first half, the visitors were ahead when Pavlidis got in-behind amidst the presence of Mohammed Salisu and dinked cleverly in the back of the net.

Europa League champions and Serie A boys Atalanta fell to a 2-1 defeat against Belgian giants Club Brugge in their play-off first-leg.
Depleted Atalanta showed face without star figures in Ademola Lookman and Sead Kolasinac with both missing through injuries.
The situation were compounded seven minutes past kick-off when Ferran Jutgla made a forward run to get onto a cutback an finished from inside the box.
Atalanta managed to bounce back albeit just before halftime as Mario Pasalic capitalised on Davide Zappacosta's pin-point cross to find the back of the net.
However, Brugge restored the advantage when Gustaf Nilsson finished from the penalty spot after he won the spot-kick from the indiscretion by Isak Hien, as the match concluded.
