Chelsea strengthened their top-four ambitions in the Premier League with a dominant 4-0 victory over Southampton on Tuesday evening.
There were no wholesale changes were provided by the Blues after the loss to Aston Villa, as Tosin Adarabioyo and Jadon Sancho returned to the side.
However, neither would make an instant impact but saw Christopher Nkunku sneaked in on the blind-side of the area and nodded in at the first time of asking to make it 1-0.
Nkunku continued enjoying a lively spell and set-up Pedro Neto to step in on the left of the offensive area and powered in emphatically.
Chelsea had it all their way at this stage and bagged a third goal when Levi Colwill showed the presence of mind in the box to nod in a pin-point free-kick.
The struggling Saints nearly got a consolation before halftime with a powerful header by Paul Onuachu from close-range, but Filip Jorgensen made an equally strong save.
Southampton made a substitution before the second half and opted to bring on Taylor Harwood-Bellis for James Bree.
Nkunku aimed to wreak further havoc on the visitors and launched in a pin-point header in the box from a cross by Enzo Fernandez, but Aaron Ramsdale palmed over.
The Saints continued chasing shadows, with the Blues in cruise control and penetrated rather comfortably from defence to the offensive third.
As such, the host made it four towards the final minutes when Marc Cucurella entered in the box following a counter and guided young Tyrique George's cutback into the bottom-corner.
Chelsea looked for a fifth in added time through a curling free-kick from outside the box by Cole Palmer, but Ramsdale pushed to safety as the Blues got back to winning ways and moved up to fourth spot.
