Carlos das Neves’ side, playing by far the better football, took the lead as early as the 2nd minute when Angelo Julius headed home at the near post following a corner.
And Vasco added a second in the 67th minute through Gavin Lendis to clinch victory, before Anthony Moniz added a third to add the cherry on top.
Both teams will play First Division football next season, but it was the Cape Town side who showed the most flair as their opponents struggled to create any real chances.Kicks’ only first-half opportunity of note came in the 16th minute when Vasco keeper Darren Dicks made a good save to deny them an equaliser.
Vasco, fielding some players who did duty for them in the Mvela Golden League Play-Offs two years ago against Benoni Premier United, should have doubled their advantage well before half time; however, this was not to be as a number of chances were missed.
A feature of the game was the deteriorating pitch – used since Thursday for various play-off matches – which cost Vasco their goal scorer when he fell on the slippery surface, injuring himself just before the break.
Lendis made the score 2-0 when he controlled a long through ball and easily beat the advancing goalkeeper, while Moniz added a third with a high lobbed ball which caught Kicks’ goalkeeper Edward More well off his line.
With 10 minutes to go, Lendis also picked up an injury and had to be replaced, but the side from the Mother City were worthy victors against a rather disorganised Carara, who scored 12 goals during this entertaining tournament.
