Downs watching Pirates fixture situation closely?

The PSL will be facing an Orlando Pirates fixture dilemma after the FIFA break, with Mamelodi Sundowns watching the situation very closely.

Even though Pirates boosted their chances of challenging Sundowns for the Betway Premiership title after a 2-1 win on Sunday, in a top-of-the-table clash.

The Buccaneers will switch their attention to the CAF Champions League after the FIFA break, with a quarter-final first-leg clash against MC Alger on Tuesday 1 April.

Unlike Sundowns, The Ghosts will have to travel to Algeria, with a league game against Polokwane City awaiting them on Sunday 6 April.

However, with the traveling in North Africa daunting, with connecting flights, Pirates could be back in the country at least on 3 April, three days before facing Rise and Shine.

Considering that The Buccaneers will have to travel to Polokwane, The Soweto giants may request a postponement of the fixture on the basis that they were playing away, especially with the second-leg against Alger set to take place on 9 April at Orlando Stadium.

With Pirates having four games in hand, the League not only cannot afford any postponements but The Brazilians will be watching the situation closely, as they also have league a game against Stellenbosch in between a two-legged CAF Champions League quarter-final encounters against Esperance de Tunis.

Masandawana will also be quick to point out that they played a Carling Knockout match last season against TS Galaxy just a day after the FIFA break, without their Bafana Bafana players and so Jose Riveiro's charges should also get on with the programme.

There will be more scrutiny on Pirates matches on hand after they revived a title race talk with a 2-1 win over Sundowns.

The Buccaneers will also be up against SuperSport United and Magesi before facing Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby, in between matches on hand that are yet to be rescheduled.
