Young Pirates duo impress Riveiro on first starts

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro was impressed young defenders Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Siyabonga Ndlozi following the win over Chippa United.

Captain Nkosinathi Sibisi netted on the brink of the interval and led the Buccaneers to victory to keep their title hopes alive.

With the performance overall scrappy, it was enough for the win though as the attack and transitions balanced out well with the mistakes minimal.

"As we expected, very equal first half in my opinion. Maybe, with one-and-a-half clear chances for us. It was nice to score just before halftime to be honest in a set-play. I think it gave us more confidence and I think we played a good second half in terms of controlling every scenario," Riveiro told SuperSport TV.

"We didn't have problems in any transition, solid in attack, not making so many mistakes and maybe I remember one or two crosses but not really with direction that went through or past Melusi.

"But nothing much in terms of chances for the opponents so I think solid performance not beautiful but solid enough to get the three points away from home," he added.

Riveiro continued to dwell on the importance to carry out the break-attacks efficiently than struggle unnecessarily and were thrilled to see it unfold as planned.

Also, the Spaniard also touched on the introductions of development graduates Mbokazi and Ndlozi, who both made their first starts for the club.

"They did a good job no? Like I said many times we have a lot of talent in the squad. When you see players on the bench or on the field it's because they are ready. Young boys two 19-years-old.

"They are first time in the PSL in an important game for the team, club and I think what they delivered tonight on the field is something to give a lot of value and be happy as a club," Riveiro pointed out.
