Tight-lipped Jali back in action, returns home

Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns star Andile Jali is set to return to action this weekend what with a football tournament taking place in the Eastern Cape.

Jali is currently without a team after parting ways with Chippa United at the end of last season. 'AJ' is yet to announce his future in football amid speculation he could retire from the sport and focus on his business interests.

He could get a last chance to bid farewell to football fans at his home province during the Zamtyikitya's Tournament at the Magwala Stadium in Cofimvaba on Saturday.

The tournament, part of a community outreach programme in the Eastern Cape, will also be graced by other former Pirates stars in Thabo Qalinge, Khethokwakhe Masuku, Asavela Mbekile, and Luvuyo Memela.

Speaking in an interview with KickOff.com ahead of the trip, Jali assured football lovers in Cifimvaba of exciting football on the day.

"This is a chance to thank and show love to the football fans that have supported us throughout our careers. We want to show the youth in the village that everything is possible in life and they can achieve their dreams as we did in football," said Jali.

"It's more than football. The organizers are using this platform to uplift the community. I hope the parents will send their children to this event, as they have a lot to learn and gain.

"I know there is also a boxing match, and I am hopeful to see more talent emerging in rural areas like Cofimvaba. I am looking forward to an exciting event."

The former double treble winner at Bucs declined to discuss his future in football but hinted he has started to prepare for life after football.

"At the right time, I will talk," he could only say.

Organizer of the Zamtyikitya's Tournament, Lwandile Gagela, also confirmed that ex-Buccaneers striker Thamsanqa Gabuza will also be among the players to take part in the event.

"We are doing it for the community, and we want to unlock many doors for the youth in the rural village. To have players like Jali, Gabuza and Qalinge will inspire players in the community," shared Gagela.
