Lesotho giants lure ex-Chiefs star

Former Kaizer Chiefs star midfield genius Jabulani 'S-Curl' Mendu has taken a giant leap in his budding coaching career, and is set to join a team campaigning in the Lesotho Premier League.

Mendu, notorious for his long passing game while at the likes of Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Moroka Swallows, turned to coaching following the end of his playing days.

According to sources, a deal to link up with Linare in neighbouring Lesotho is imminent, and the man nicknamed 'S-Curl' is expected to be announced as head coach on Friday.

News reaching the KickOff.com desk indicates that the man from Vosloorus has already arrived in the market town of Leribe.

The deal will be signed this morning, provided both parties agree on terms.

This website put a call through to the erstwhile midfielder, who confirmed the news.

"Yes, it's true. We are still in negotiations," said Mendu in a terse response.

The 48-year-old holds a CAF A Licence, which is a strict requirement by CAF for coaches to be eligible in the technical area.

He is not the first South African to become Linare head coach, with Orlando Pirates legend Tebogo Moloi having previously held the position.
