More changes expected at Chiefs

Although the season is well underway, the futures of several players at Chiefs remain up in the air as the PSL transfer window draws to a close.

The Premier Soccer League transfer window is set to slam shut on Friday, 22 September and although Chiefs have done most of their transfer dealings, sources close to the Soweto Giants have indicated to further changes.

Amakhosi strengthened their squad with the arrivals of as many as seven new signings in Pule Mmodi, Ranga Chivaviro, Jasond Gonzalez, Given Msimango, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Ranga Chivaviro and Mduduzi Mdantsane.

at the opposite end, Chiefs have also parted ways with more than five players in Khama Billiat, Cole Alexander, Phathutshedzo Nange, Austin Dube, Eric Mathoho, Siyabonga Ngezana and Caleb Bimenyimana.

A well-placed source has now indicated there are still more departures expected at Chiefs, with the futures of George Matlou and Kamohelo Mahlatsi among others, still in doubt.

"There are a few players that still might leave," the insider told KickOff.

"It's looking a bit better for George [Matlou] now, you've seen him come on a few times and given a chance, but for guys like Kamohelo [Mahlatsi], it might be the end. It just hasn't worked out for him at the club."

Mahlatsi joined Amakhosi at the start of the 2022/23 season as part of a three-player package that included Dillan Solomons and Matlou and aside from Solomons, the former duo has struggled to replicate the form that made them a sought after talents while at Swallows

Other players said to be possibly heading for the exit door before the transfer window closes are Sabelo Radebe who has made two appearances as a late substitute and Happy Mashiane who is yet to feature for Amakhosi this season.

Chiefs return to action with DStv Premiership clash against Royal AM on Saturday at FNB Stadium. Kick off is at 17:30.
