Zinedine Zidane: Real Madrid rips into side after Paris Saint-Germain defeat

Zinedine Zidane has not held back in his assessment of his underperforming Real Madrid side after Paris Saint-Germain humbled them in their UEFA Champions League opener.   The 13-time European champions looked a shadow of their former selves at the Parc des Princess on Wedesday evening as PSG outplayed them throughout the 90 minutes.

What worries me is that lack of intensity," he added after Real suffered their first defeat of the season.   Senegal star Idrissa Gana Gueuye and Italy ace Marco Veratti in particular, took the game by the scruff of it's neck in midfield, which saw Los Blancos chasing shadows for much of the encounter.   And Zidane admits the lack of goalscoring chances is something that is difficult to comprehend.   "Failing to create proper chances with the players we have up front -- Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard -- is a weird feeling," Zidane said.   "You can play badly but if you have the intensity, if you fight for the ball, you're in the game."
