Zinedine Zidane pleased for Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema after Champions League rout in Cyprus

Ronaldo entered Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League Group H encounter with just one La Liga goal this season while Benzema had two but hailed failed to score in Europe since February.

However, the pair were both at the double in Cyprus as the Galacticos earned their place in the knockout rounds as runners-up in the group and Zidane is hoping the pair’s strikes can revive their usual clinical streaks.

Zidane said: "I'm happy for them [Ronaldo and Benzema], they keep on working. We knew it was going to happen, that their goals would come. Now they have to keep working like this.

"We know they're both very good. Now we have to think about the next game. We are on the right track and doing things well. We continue to grow in the game because it is never easy to get six goals away from home.

"We can say that it has been a game against a weak opponent, but it is not true. We played a serious game, we scored early and kept a clean sheet."
