The Galacticos cruised to a 3-1 win in Germany this week with Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace and a goal from Gareth Bale rendering Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s second-half strike as only a consolation.
The result made it two wins from two for Los Blancos to leave them top of the group, albeit on goal difference, and Zidane was thoroughly pleased with the performance and result of his side.
"It was perfect," he said. "It was a great game from us. We started well, the first half was brilliant as was the second.
“We had some difficult moments after the break, but we played them out.
"I am delighted for Ronaldo and Bale, but the whole side worked hard, everyone was brilliant and it was a tremendous game."
Next up in the European Cup for Madrid is the visit of Tottenham in mid-October, and while Zidane knows they are in for a big test, he expects his side’s to have the quality to see off the Premier League giants.
"It is a big challenge to see if we can compete at this type of level and to be very motivated against the best team in the world. We need to show to ourselves that we can compete at that level,” he said.
