Yaya Toure suggests the Pep Guardiola and Manchester City should part ways

Toure and Guardiola endured a frosty relationship since they first worked together at FC Barcelona before the Spaniard shipped him out to Manchester City, where he then developed into one of the Premier League's greatest midfielders.

However, after three years with Bayern Munich, Guardiola was lured to England by the Citizens where the then 'humiliated' Toure by leaving him out their UEFA Champions League squad in his first season in charge.

When the four-time African Footballer of the Year eventually departed he suggested that Pep being a great coach is was a 'myth' and slammed him for his perceived condescending man-management.

"Pep likes to dominate and wants to have obedient players who lick his hands. I do not like this kind of relationship. I respect my coach but I am not his thing," he said in 2018 and accused him of 'having a problem with Africans'.

"Like all players, I have bickered with my coaches, but at a certain point men who do not understand each other reconcile. This is not possible with Pep, who is very rigid.

"The other players will never admit it publicly but some have already told me that they ended up hating him. Because he manipulates and plays a lot with your head."

And now two years later, with the iconic coach yet to bring the Champions League success in which he was brought to the club to achieve, Toure feels that it could be the time for a new project due to his recent failures.

"The manager has been signed for that, just to bring this trophy and when you see Liverpool maybe and other clubs who [won it] without doing a lot of work in the transfer market, it's quite strange and disappointing," he told Football Daily.

"Of course, he's been brought to the club to get a massive trophy for them and at the moment it's not been delivered in the way they want.

"Everyone knows Pep is a great manager but at the moment when things are not going their way, sometimes it's the time to change the way they do things. We'll see."
