Percy Tau registered an assist on his UEFA Champions League debut as Club Brugge claimed a 2-2 draw at Real Madrid on Tuesday evening.
Luka Modric earned a recall from the 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint Germain along with Sergio Ramos and Nacho, while Tau made his Champions League bow after missing the opening game against Galatasaray.
The visitors sprung an early surprise when Tau beat the offside trap to square for Emmanuel Bonaventure, who mishit the effort beyond Thibaut Courtois. The goal was initially ruled for offside, but consultation with the Video Assistant Referee changed the on-field decision and the strike stood.
Real looked for an equaliser, but Simon Mignolet pulled off a one-handed save to deny Raphael Varane heading the equaliser from a corner 28 minutes in. At the other end, Courtois kept the score down five minutes later with a smart save off Tau's first-time dink in the area.
Brugge silenced the Bernabeu six minutes to halftime when Dennis clipped over Courtois after racing through on goal following poor possession from Modric.
Real made two changes at halftime, with Courtois replaced in goal by Alphonse Areola and Marcelo coming in for Nacho. The hosts halved the deficit in trademark fashion when Ramos nodded home from close range after attacking Karim Benzema's cross on 55 minutes.
However, the Belgian side finished with ten men seven minutes to the end, with Ruud Vormer receiving a second yellow card for a poor challenge on Vinicius Junior.
Real levelled matters instantly when Casemiro headed into the far corner from a well taken free-kick by Toni Kroos as the spoils were shared on the night.
The Spanish giants in the end bagged their first point in this season's UEFA Champions League group stages after coming from the jaws of defeat.
