UEFA Champions League match report Galatasaray vs Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain maintained their winning start in Group A in the UEFA Champions League with a 1-0 win over Galatasaray on Tuesday evening.

Mauro Icardi, on-loan from Inter Milan, led the line in the absence of Edison Cavani and Neymar with Angel Di Maria, chief destroyer Real Madrid starting on the wings.

Fernando Muslera pulled off a strong save in the opening 11 minutes from Thomas Meunier's first-time effort off Di Maria's delivery.

Gala responded with a big chance after 18 minutes as Jean Michael Seri curled towards the top corner from the edge of the area, but the attempt went wide.

The first half ended with both sides sharing the bulk the encounter's overall play amidst the lack of real clear-cut openings in the final third.

Keylor Navas was put to work two minutes in from the break, but the PSG shot-stopper managed to get across to plug out Seri's powering free-kick.

Icardi eventualy netted his first goal for PSG after slotting home from inside the six-yard area following Pablo Sarabia's square ball with 52 minutes played.

PSG nearly let their advantage slip three minutes later, but Marquinhos cleared Radamel Falcao's effort off the goal-line.

Falcao threatened yet again with a curling free-kick eight minutes later, but the attempt narrowly sailed over the top of the crossbar.

Muslera was brought into action yet again after Eric Choupo-Moting and Mbappe combined to carve open a chance for the latter, which the Galatasaray shot-stopper saved easily after 77 minutes.

The two sides dropped momentum towards full-time, with no real openings, as PSG head to the top of Group A with an unblemished record.
