Club Brugge striker Emmanuel Dennis has explained why he taunted Real Madrid fans with the iconic Cristiano Ronaldo celebration at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Dennis, 21, netted a brace in the first half to silence the home supporters into a state of shock and added insult to injury with the trademark celebration of their club-record scorer.
Since Ronaldo's €100 million transfer to Juventus 15 months ago, Real are still struggling to come to terms with his absence, despite the current squad holding the core that won three consecutive Champions League titles.
And Dennis, who made his Super Eagles debut last month explained his actions after the memorable evening in Madrid.
"I like Cristiano and for me he is the best player in the world," the Nigeria international told RTL.
"I was sad when he left Madrid and I celebrated my goals like that to show them that they lost something."
The promising striker went on to play down his contribution that sees Brugge in second place in Group A after two rounds of fixtures.
