UPDATE: Man Utd make shock 'decision' on star player

English giants Manchester United have now reportedly made a shock decision regarding one of their star players.

There is a need for the Red Devils to raise funds as well as reduce their wage bill, and as such, their executive team has decided they are now prepared to consider offers for captain Bruno Fernandes, according to The Guardian

This comes after the Portuguese playmaker contributed with 15 goals and 13 assists across all competitions for United this past season, helping them to an eighth-place finish on the Premier League table.

He also picked up an assist in their 2-1 win over bitter rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final last month.

With his current contract set to keep him at the club until June 2026, it is understood the Sir Jim Ratcliffe-led hierarchy view the Portugal international as the best player at the club.

It has also been claimed that the midfielder is keen on landing a new deal that would keep him at Old Trafford, but he is believed to want to be in the same bracket as the club's highest earners, with it being suggested he currently feels undervalued at the Theatre of Dreams.

He is currently said to be earning £220 000 (about R5.2 million) a week. In contrast, Marcus Rashford is reportedly on a deal that sees him garner an estimated £365 000 (R8.7 million) on a weekly basis, with Jadon Sancho and Casemiro also believed to be receiving about £300 000 (R7.1 million) weekly.

Fernandes, meanwhile, is also said to be waiting on current manager Erik ten Hag's future at the Theatre of Dreams to be confirmed before making a decision about the direction in which he wants to take his career.

It has previously been reported that the 29-year-old's agent, Miguel Pinho, has been in discussions with German giants Bayern Munich, with Barcelona also said to be interested in the Portugal star, although they continue to be hindered by their financial situation.
