OFFICIAL: Man Utd re-sign ex-star!

Manchester United have now confirmed that they have re-signed one of their former stars!

The Red Devils have secured Jonny Evans' services until the end of the 2023/24 campaign, having handed him a one-year contract.

The Northern Ireland international left relegated Leicester City in July and began training with United before signing a short-term contract to help the club out during pre-season.

However, while that temporary deal ended on Thursday, Evans seemingly did enough to impress United boss Erik ten Hag during that period and earn himself a new contract at the Theatre of Dreams.

"The level, we know he is a really experienced player but also a very good person, a big personality, and I think he has big authority as well. He will help the young players especially. It is a benefit for both sides," the Dutch manager told MUTV in July.

With the recent injuries to Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane, who is expected to be out for a few weeks after coming off at half-time during United's 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest last weekend, Evans will now provide some cover and plenty of experience.

The 35-year-old defender came through United's academy, and went on to win three Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League trophy with the Red Devils between 2006 and 2015, before leaving for West Bromwich Albion and then Leicester City.
